Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances of garnering strong support in Osun State remain promising ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
Kalu expressed confidence that the President could attract substantial backing from political leaders across the state, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party.
He made these remarks in a statement issued by his media office on Sunday, following President Tinubu’s congratulatory message to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election.
Kalu congratulated Adeleke on his victory and also expressed sympathy for the APC leadership, the party’s gubernatorial candidate, and supporters regarding the election outcome.
“I join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as the Governor of Osun State. I also sympathize with the APC leadership, our party’s gubernatorial candidate, and all our supporters over the outcome of the election,” he said.
The former Abia governor also praised the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, for his contributions to the state's development.
According to Kalu, the result of the Osun governorship election reflects democracy at work and should be respected by all involved.
“What happened in Osun is democracy in play. Elections are about the choice of the people, and as a party, we should be able to come back stronger,” he said.
Kalu insisted that the election result should not be viewed as a setback for President Tinubu, emphasizing that the President’s political prospects in Osun are still strong ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He called on political leaders and supporters to stay committed to the democratic process and keep working toward Nigeria’s progress, unity, and development.
