2027: Amaechi Warns Nigerians to Defend Their Votes, Says Election Will Be Won at the Polls

Former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has called on Nigerians to protect their votes and ensure that the will of the people prevails in the 2027 general elections. Amaechi made the remarks at the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), where he stressed that electoral victories should be determined by voters at the polling units rather than through courtrooms.

According to him, the people must remain at the centre of the electoral process and exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders. He also challenged lawyers to pay greater attention to the protection of citizens' rights, particularly during elections, questioning whether they would remain active in courtrooms while Nigerians struggle to defend their mandates.

Amaechi further criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that the government had “declared war on Nigerians.”

He urged Nigerians to stand up for their rights and ensure that their votes count, stressing the importance of active citizen participation in the democratic process. His comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to intensify, with major political figures and groups already positioning themselves for the contest.
