Trump Warns of Impeachment if Republicans Lose Congress in November Midterm Elections
US President Donald Trump has warned that he could face another impeachment attempt if Republicans lose control of Congress in the November 2026 midterm elections. Trump issued the warning while addressing supporters at a campaign rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he urged Republican voters to turn out in large numbers. “I’m going to be impeached. They’re going to impeach me. They have no idea why,” Trump said.
The president argued that losing control of Congress to Democrats could undermine his administration's policies, particularly on immigration, taxation and other key areas of his agenda. “If we lose, you’re going to lose your border, you’re going to lose your tax cuts, you’re going to lose everything that we’ve done,” Trump told the crowd.
He also predicted that a Democratic-controlled Congress would lead to higher taxes, lower wages and businesses leaving the United States. Trump further sought to turn the midterm elections into a direct test of his political influence, telling supporters to treat the election as though his own name were on the ballot.
“What I really want you to do is pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot. Just come and vote,” he said.
The warning carries particular significance because Trump remains the only US president to have been impeached twice. He was acquitted by the Senate in both cases and was not removed from office.
Trump's latest comments come as Republicans and Democrats prepare for a closely watched midterm contest over control of Congress. At the Myrtle Beach rally, Trump was also campaigning for Darline Graham, who was appointed to the Senate in July following the death of her brother, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
With the midterm elections approaching, Trump is making a strong appeal to Republican voters to protect his legislative agenda and prevent Democrats from gaining control of Congress.
